Normal finding.: "Bilateral" = both sides (right & left). "Patent" = open. The "fallopian tubes" are the tubes leading from the uterus to the ovary, i.e. the tube where eggs travel down in order to implant in the womb. Having fallopian tubes open on both sides is a normal finding; unlike a blockage on one side (where the chances of conception go down by at least 50%), both sides being open is considered "normal".
