Usually a week or tw: By far, this is caused by a viral infection most of the time and these generally last 10-14 days. Antibiotics typically play no role in treatment. Furthermore, if one experiences this more than a couple times a year or episodes that are protracted, then a work up for causes of chronic rhinitis (allergic or non-allergic) is warranted.
