NSAIDs: You should take naproxen 500 mg twice a day with flexeril 10mg up to three times a day. Adding narcotics is for severe pain only. Depending upon the mechanism of your back injury you may require a spine specialist to intervene and assess your pain with imaging. Rest, ice, and trigger point or transforaminal injections should be considered first and a pain management consultation as well.
