May be more than flu: Symptoms of flu are commonly shared with other infectious problems, and you might need this to be looked at to assess the condition

Immune system: Your immune system is responsible for fighting off all bacterial and viral assailants. I have observed that chronic asymptomatic dental issues sometimes become symptomatic during illness. It may be that your immune system has fewer resources available when a major illness is present. This is the primary reason to address all dental pathology even if it isn't creating a problem in the moment. Exam!

Wait ten days: for flu symptoms to subside and if you still have gum pain and or toothache, see your dentist.
