No: Studies show no to low benefit for lower back pain with oral steroids. You need rest low back school and a pain management referral. Naproxen 500 twice a day and flexeril 10 mg three times a day prn are preferable. You need a full exam to rule out cauda equina, weakness and other surgical indications. Risk also > benefits with diabetes.
