Trauma: It is possible that the hip injury was a contusion which resulted in the development of traumatic bursitis of that hip. This causes both pain on motion and tenderness of the hip. It responds to cold or hot applications and anti-inflammatory medications like Advil or Aleve. If pain is very severe a hairline hip fracture must be checked for by your MD or orthopedic surgeon.
