Depends : Depends on the injury. Options not surgical may include living with what you've got, taking pain relief and physiotherapy. Variety of knee injuries though and some of them respond better than others to conservative management. Think best to discuss with a doctor for specific advice for your situation

Osteoarthritis (OA): Unfortunately OA is a chronic disease that gets worse with time, It is wear and tear of the joint with time from ongoing use. You might be able to slow the progression of the disease by reducing weight to the ideal weight, appropriate exercises as advised by physiotherapist, and pain killers to help with the symptoms and to improve the posture and gait.

PT and injections : There are a number of options for young patients with knee arthritis such as PT to strengthen the muscles supporting the knee. If that doesn't give enough relief then injections of steroids or joint lubricant are available.
