Menopause symptoms: Menopause happens when your ovaries stop producing Estrogens and progesterones. This causes your period to stop coming. You could also have hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, decreased sex drive, irritabilty, difficulty sleeping, dry skin, and thinning hair.

Many: The most common symptoms are hot flashes, mood changes, skin and hair dryness, vaginal dryness, pain with intercourse, rapid heart rate (rare), anxiety, sleep disturbances, remember, most do great with menopause and not everyone has symptoms. I list many of these, along with treatment options in my book, a woman's guide to hormone health.

Change in bleeding: The defining change is no bleeding for one year. During the peri menopausal period the most common change is irregular vaginal bleeding. Can be more but is usual less and less often. Eventually it slows to nothing. Skin, vaginal changes happen, sex drive changes, mood can change, your risk for heart disease and osteoporosis increases.Or it can be very uneventful and calm!every woman is different.

Numerous.: Every cell in a woman's body has estrogen and Progesterone receptors, so the entire body suffers once in menopause (when estrogen and Progesterone production cease completely). Symptoms range from depression, insomnia, hot flashes, fatigue, brain fog, to vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, low libido, dry skin, urine leakage, to increased risk of osteoporosis, dementia, and heart disease.

Irregular bleeding : Irregular bleeding is often the first sign. You ovulate infrequently, so you may skip periods. Hot flashes are the result of decreased estrogen levels, and come soon after if they do. Night sweats vpcan also happen, which will effect your sleep. Vaginal dryness develops over time, and is also a reflection of the decreased estrogen levels. Average age is 51, but perimenopause can last a few years.

Varied: Common signs are changes in the timing of the cycles, hot flushes, mood and emotional changes, skin changes, vaginal dryness, and hair thinning. It must be remembered that symptoms vary wildly from woman to woman with some folks not experiencing any symptoms at all. I cover all these symptoms and treatment options in my book "A Woman's Guide to Hormone Health"
