Same as regular: Occurring before the age of 40, the cessation of menses for at least one year is considered premature ovarian insufficiency (failure sounds so judgey!). Symptoms may include hot flashes, vaginal dryness, fatigue, loss of libido, mood changes, weight gain. If you are much younger than the average age of 52 at menopause, definitely see your doc to make of sure what is going on.

Hot flashes: Also moods swings insomnia and loss of menses. Early onset has been described in patients before age 40.

Skipped periods: Early menopause, or premature ovarian insufficiency can be a cause of missed periods. If you are missing periods, you should see your doctor. If you're having regular periods, early menopause is not at all likely.

What to do if I have all the menopause symptoms, could i be having early menopause?

Yes, but....: It would be considered "premature menopause". It is very unusual to go through menopause before 48 y/o. The average age in the us is 52 y/o, but many women start at around 48 y/o and others don't start the menopause until well into their 50's. Menopause at 36 y/o wouild be considered premature menopause and should be evaluated by your healthcare provider.

Menopause: Menopause is the time when your periods begin to be irregular. Not common at age 36 but it does happen sometimes. If that is happening to you now please see a gynecologist for care.
