A member asked:

After succesful mitral prolapse repair how common is it to find mitral stenosis in these type of patients with annoloplasty ring over a certain time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rare: It's rare but it does happen. As always, the devil's in the details. A minor amount of stenosis is well tolerated but as the mitral valve area diminishes, the likelihood and severity of symptoms (shortness of breath) increases. A sudden change in MV area suggests a clot and should be treated with anticoagulation. Good luck!
