Arthritis/Tendinitis: Crunching sounds with motion may occur with both arthritis or tendinitis. Irregularities in joint surfaces that occur with arthritis can lead to "crepitus" with motion. Inflammation of the tendons can also cause a crunching sound when moved. If there is any swelling of the hand or wrist along with the crunching sound it should be checked out with your doctor
