Yes: Depo-Provera given during the first 5 days of a woman's normal regular period is effective contraception from that cycle onward, until shortly after the next Depo-Provera shot is due. If very worried, a woman can do a home pregnancy test a few weeks into the future, but women rarely get pregnant on Depo-Provera.
