Not long acting: Xanax is used to help with anxiety. It has a very short half life of about 11 hours. It is usually out of your system completely in 1-4 days. However, keep in mind that Xanax acts quickly and its effectiveness also is greatly reduced very quickly also. Xanax should not be taken over long periods of time.
