A member asked:

How safe is general anaesthetic for a 5 year old for dental surgery? how will it affect his anxiety? what can we expect ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Risk vrs need: All anesthetic, both local & general, have some level of risk. Anesthesia required to allow Dentist to remove infected tissues. Some 5 year olds will not permit local, so general the only option. Discuss your concerns with your child's Dentist.
