Follow-Up Visit?: Typically patients see their provider around 6 weeks after a mirena insertion for a check-up. Have you had that visit yet? If not, please call for that visit now. Irregular spotting is common for a couple of months after insertion, but daily bleeding or heavy bleeding is not common. Also, the mirena should not cause any new pain or discomfort months after insertion.
