Use eye drops: Double vision at any age occurs when both eyes are open and not aligned. There are many causes and many treatments. Double vision in one eye first noted when awakening and disappearing on its own is caused by the tear film. Gentle massage through the closed lids and lubricating eye drops can be used to eliminate it. If this continues see an ophthalmologist to check corneas and lens of the eye
