A member asked:

How could i contract latent tb if i have never been near a sick person w/tb, never worked n health care, never in jail/prison & always lived n the us?

It happens: One of the problems with TB is it's insidious nature. It is slow growing and may take years for anyone to become symptomatic, yet they can pass it to others while they incubate it. You had to be exposed to active TB to get it, but it is quite possible you will never know the source.
