A member asked:

Are there any negative effects to being born without a tailbone or having your tailbone removed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: No, the tailbone is loosely connected to the rest of the lower spinal column, and even when broken, we (MD's) don't bother to fix it as it changes nothing with spinal support. Fortunately in humans, it doesn't even have to support an evolutionary "tail".
