Alprazolam or: Xanax has immediate effect as it is one of the most potent short-acting benzodiazepines known. It does help w/ anxiety and disordered mood, but does not help much with your suicidal intent and depression. Rexulti however is an antipsychotic and mood stabilizer. It may help with your suicidal intent and improve your depression. It takes 1-2 weeks to fully get in your system.
