Not sure: There is a propensity for asthma to flare at nighttime. However, without any previous history, a new nocturnal cough may more likely be related to postnasal drip or laryngeal irritation from a cold, nighttime dryness, allergic or non-allergic rhinitis causes, or acid reflux.
