Back pain in a teen: Back pain that starts suddenly may be due to a strain due to irritation of muscles, ligaments and tendons in the spinal area. If a person notices fever or chills, pain at night, severe pain, or pain that lasts more than a week or two, they should consult with their physician about further evaluation and treatment.
