Recurrent BV: The gel itself doesn't make any difference, i.e. sex won't interfere. However, BV is closely related to sex, and unprotected sex may interfere with effectiveness of treatment. If you have sex with men while on treatment, use condoms consistently until treatment is complete. If sex with women, avoid contact with partner's vaginal fluids via fingers, sex toys, etc.
