Not a dvt: It's unlikely that pain in the ankle is from a dvt, DVT pain is usually in the meat of the calf in the back of the leg, just below the knee.

Don't think so : Just ankle pain, without swelling/pain in the leg and no predisposing factor, wouldn't necessarily warrant a dvt workup. May be more likely related to trauma/infection/ inflammation.
