Should regrow: In most cases you can help the process by keeping the area clean and addressing any breakdown of skin by covering it with antibiotic ointment. If the injury did not destroy the nail matrix (origin) the nail should gradually regrow.This is a long process as the nail grows at rates of 1-3mm/mo at 10.
