See a doctor: Hello. It seems that you have manipulated that lump a little too much. You may have had an ingrown hair, but now it sounds like you have a folliculitis (infection of hair follicle). These can develop into an abscess. You should apply warm salt water compresses and keep the area clean and dry. If there is no improvement, or if the redness increases, see your PCP.
