It can last longer: than 5 days. I am not sure if your child was tested or if the diagnosis was made on clinical grounds. She sounds like she is putting up a good fight against the infection which sounds viral in nature. Continue supportive measures with fluid support, rest and judicious regulation of temperature. If her sense of well being declines then a re check is indicated.
