Mitral Prolapse: Mitral Valve Prolapse means the valve buckles into the left atrium during closure. Echo (ultrasound of the heart) detects mild forms of MVP; the test depends on quality of the images, the criteria used by the MD, & even the status of the patient on that day, so reports may differ. Enlargement of the heart is usually significant. For review of your case consider an Inbox Consult here on HealthTap.
