A member asked:

I have developed a hard lump and swelling on the joint of my pinky. its been there for a long time. what can be done to make it go away?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Might be arthritis: At age 49, one possibility is common arthritis. Although the pinky finger is less commonly involved, arthritis can cause bony lumps at the joints of fingers, and they are generally permanent. Check this link to see if this might explain your finger swelling: http://www.webmd.com/arthritis/heberdens-and-bouchards-nodes
