This can't be very: convenient or comfortable! Of course, you have excluded pregnancy/morning sickness as a cause. Other things that I can think of include post-nasal drainage (PND) which is irritating and drains when you get up in the morning, possibly worse if you are a smoker. This would be akin to gastroesophageal reflux. Perhaps sinus inflammation contributes to the PND. Pursue an eval with GI/ENT/Prim Care:)
