A member asked:

Why doctors don't prescribe antibiotics after biopsy incision ? i have 3 lumps removed from my legs 3 days ago and i want go back to work next week.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unnecessary, and...: ...Potentially dangerous. Antibiotics administered after a biopsy will not prevent infections nor accelerate healing. What it will do is kill the normal bacteria in your body, potentially leading to more serious infections. The indiscriminate use of antibiotics has led to the development of "super bugs" that are harder and harder to treat. Abx can be life-saving, but only for the right reasons.
