Keflex (cephalexin): isn't my first choice for treating gum infections. Even tho "no medical care set up yet", if she has health insurance, she can go to any local clinic or urgent care center for care. If you have reasonably good internet, she can download the Health Tap app and sign up for a consult with one of our physicians who can prescribe a more appropriate antibiotic. Dr. Anne

It might..: But I would advise against it. I don't know how old the med is or exactly what is wrong with the tooth or what treatment it might need. Most offices will see emergencies on the same day you call, so no need to set anything up.

Not wise: Not best antibiotic choice. Are old pills outdated? Do you have enough for full course of treatment? Antibiotics alone will not cure, only reduce spread of infection, gum disease or a fractured tooth. Your mom needs a Dentist, now. Please make sure she sees one ASAP.
