Get evaluated!: Blood from the rectum should always be evaluated. While you are young for colon cancer, you are not too young! get seen by a gastroenterologist or proctologist. There are many causes of bleeding such as polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, vascular malformations, ulcers, as well as tumors. Bleeding is not to be ignored.

At least get exam: Should at least see a dr for exam given your family history. Might be hemorrhoid / fissure / bowel irritation / etc., but could be more serious, particularly if GI symptoms started early in family. Do not have to jump right to GI dr & colonoscopy, though. Can start w/primary dr or urgent care dr--er only if large quantities, persistent, or cannot get in elsewhere.

Bleeding, pain: Intl hemorrhoids can give u bleeding with a bowel movement, blood on the toilet paper or in the bowl. Other things that could cause bleeding are best evaluated with colonoscopy. Usually you would get this at 50 years old. But if there is a strong history of colon ca in the family you should get a scope 10 years before the age at which the youngest realtive got ca. Get one now if bleeding.
