I have lower left side, sharp back pain just above buttocks, only there, not down the legs. it does not hurt all the time, only every now and then whe?

Sacroiliac joint?: Plus maybe the sick really act joint or maybe muscle. You could have a clue if it is tender to touch. Your physician can evaluate you and if necessary have you see a rheumatologist.
