Sciatica: Pain in the buttock radiating down the leg is commonly caused by a bulging intervertebral disc in the lower spine. Radiation to the scrotum isn't common,however. Most of these cases resolve within weeks,but if you're very uncomfortable or unable to sleep you should consult a neurologist or neurosurgeon for evaluation and treatment options. An MRI is usually diagnostic.
