Yes but...: They are mostly there for emergency surgery. Gallstones are only an emergency when they are infected. If you are having fevers, constant increasing pain with vomiting and unable to keep anything down then you need to go to the Emergency Room. Otherwise your GP or whoever ordered the ultrasound will refer you to a surgeon for elective surgery- but it won't happen over the holidays...
