Yes, but: There are meds which can help prevent gallstone formation or help dissolve some types of stones, it takes a while for these meds to work and effects are not permanent and most of patients don't like them due to side effects etc for that reason if you have gallstones and they are causing symptoms then best treatment is removal of gallbladder. Surgery is the best: option. The surgery is usually done through a scope and you are home within 24 hours and the pain from the stones is gone. Medications are not usually effective and do not solve the problem. If not treated surgically you can get complications such as gall stone pancreatitis.
