Unrelated: I would suspect that these are unrelated issues. Neck and back stiffness after sleeping is a relatively common complaint, usually caused by degenerative disease (aging changes), deconditioning, or soft tissue inflammation (myofasciitis). I would recommend that you see a physician for further evaluation.
