Lots of things: You are describing the textbook description of pleuritic chest pain. The pleura is the very thin layer between the outside of the lung and the inside of the chest cavity. Most commonly the cause is viral, so an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen, is appropriate. If that doesn't do it see your doc.
