Stool blood: Blood with bowel movements is abnormal and must be investigated. If it's bright red and not mixed in with the stool, hemorrhoids are likely. Other possibilities include diverticulosis of the colon, inflammatory bowel disease or a growth in the colon. See your physician or a gastroenterologist or colorectal surgeon for evaluation. Appropriate tests will be done in order to make a diagnosis.
