Remeron side effect: On the one hand, on the other hand. Everything in life has its risks and its benefits. The main indication for prescribing Remeron is for treatment of depression. It can also cause weight gain. You, the patient, have to discuss with your doc your concerns about the weight gain. There are other treatments for depression including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which does not involve drugs.
