Always a possibility: though likely low odds. Most people have heard of appendicitis, assume simple issue, yet most surgeons believe they must operate on >4 people for every 3 who appear to have appendix problems (at open surgery), including in our age of CT Scans, etc. (Many not told appendicitis not actual issue after the fact, etc.) Thus difficult to answer. If immune system not resolve abscess, then might recur.
