A member asked:

If i don't have appendticis but my appendix is enlarged and the pain isn't going away should i go back to the hospital? will they remove it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible AP: Appendicitis is not an elongated appendix. It is an inflammatory process in the appendix frequently induced by a stone in the appendix. If the appendix is the problem an x-ray should show a stone or appendicolith , marked thickening and evidence of inflammation. WBC should be elevated and pain present on palpation of RLQ
