Vaginal GBS normal: Group B strep is normal in the vagina and probably is not the cause of your bladder irritation. It sometimes causes UTI, but that's easy to diagnose with urinalysis and culture. The main health problem from vaginal GBS is risk of serious infection in babies born to carrier moms. Therefore, GBS vaginal testing and treatment of carriers normally is done only in pregnant women.
