Low risk to infant: Metronidazole has a class B rating during pregnancy, that means: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. There are both oral and vaginal forms. Vaginal forms would give even lower blood levels. Oral metro. is excreted in breast milk and pumping and alternate feeding recommended
