Unless underestimate: If MR is truly mild, there is no indication for valve surgery. If there is any question of a potential underestimate of the MR (ex. the left atrium looks unusually big, the MR jet is eccentric), then a transesophageal echocardiogram is needed to more clearly assess the MR. https://professional.heart.org/idc/groups/ahamah-public/@wcm/@sop/@smd/documents/downloadable/ucm_462851.pdf
