Sexual transmission: You both need to be treated and tested for other sexually transmitted infections. Then marriage counseling is probably in order to help clear up the communication problem. Good luck.

You really know: You didn't get gonorrhea by any means other than sexual contact with an infected partner. How and when they became infected is a separate issue as it can occasionally remain without obvious symptoms in either gender for a while. It does not remain hidden for 11 or more years.
