No: It is not typical for a 29 year old woman to have menstrual periods every three months without any type of birth control plan in place. You should get checked for PCOS, hormonal issues, etc.. Make sure pregnancy is not a consideration. Follow up with a gyn is advised.

It should: be evaluated ..since irregular periods CAN be associated with endocrine (glandular) abnomalities for example hypopituitarism, Polycystic ovarian disease etc There is no "rush" to do this unless you are having problems (eg: fertility issues) Hope this is helpful Dr Z
