A member asked:

Sir, my wbc report shows eosophilia what does it mean and the count is 12.6... all other rbc platelet count and hemoglobin are in normal limits?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Worms or allergy: The two common causes of elevated eosinophil count are worm infestations and allergies. It would be good idea to get your stool tested for ova and parasites to exclude worm infestation, as worms are common in India. Worm infestation can be treated readily with oral medication. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
