A member asked:

My gran is 70, has lung and liver metastases from squamos oesphageal cancer what would you say is the avarage life expectency with chemo and without?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fairly good treatmen: Cancer of the esophagus in a 70 year old should be treated with Chemotherapy. It can benefit about 50% of the treated folks. But the survival is short...most patients live 1 to 2 years with the treatment if it works well. Without treatment, the survival is no more than a few months (estimated at 4-6 months).
