Albumin marginal: The answer depends on the reference range used by the local pathology lab. For example our local lab quotes "normal" albumin as being 34-48 g/L. Therefore an albumin of 33 would be "marginally low", suggesting that there is slightly less albumin in the blood than we would expect. Albumin is a type of protein and low levels can be caused by inflammation.

When the liver is diseased the albumin level will be low in addition to low total protein. Your albumin value should be 3.3 cgms and not 33.
